What Is the Trial of Chaos in Path of Exile 2?
The Trial of Chaos is the Act 3 ascension trial, built on the Ultimatum. You open it with an Inscribed Ultimatum; the very first one comes from Xyclucian in Act 3. A run lasts up to 10 rounds, the modifiers you accept keep stacking, and no deaths are allowed. Besides Ascendancy points, it is the source of Soul Cores, the trial's exclusive reward.
Patch 0.5.5 reworked it in every league: you can leave and resume a run, a reward chest appears after each room, rewards are now currency and Soul Cores only, and after a 10-round run you can continue twice for Trialmaster fragments.

The Trialmaster only opens once you hold Cowardly, Deadly and Victorious Fate. That last step is the reason most players look for a trial of chaos carry: the build has to handle every stacked modifier for ten rounds and then a boss, on a single life.
Choosing Your Range in the Calculator
The Trials list sells single Ascensions (1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th Trial) and connected ranges: 1st–2nd, 1st–3rd, All 4 Trials, 2nd–3rd, 2nd–4th and 3rd–4th. A range always starts where your tree stops, so a character with 4 points takes 3rd–4th Trials for points 5–8. Longer ranges cost more, the 4th Trial is the priciest single step, and Hardcore in Runes of Aldur sits above the other leagues.
Softcore is sold in Forbidden Rites, Runes of Aldur and Standard, Hardcore in the last two. Modes: Self Play, Piloted or Remote Control. Express gives your order maximum priority for start and completion; Stream shows a Piloted run live.
Start and Completion of the Trial of Chaos Carry
A booster takes your order about 15 minutes after payment and tells you in the order chat how long your range will take. Orders run in the current league you pick; after 1.0 on December 11, 2026, the card switches to the new league.
Prefer floors and Honour to rounds? The Trial of the Sekhemas carry awards the same points. If you only need one step and do not mind which trial, the Ascension Trials boost is simpler, and a build check shows why your character dies in late rounds. How long does it take?
The booster confirms the time for your range in the order chat. A single Ascension finishes much sooner than All 4 Trials.
Is The Trialmaster part of the order?
Yes, whenever your range includes the 4th Trial, because points 7–8 require defeating it.
Can I order only the last two Ascensions?
Yes. Pick 3rd–4th Trials (points 5–8) if your tree already shows 4 points, or 4th Trial alone if you have 6.
