Cookie Policy
Last updated: September 19, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how SKILLCARRY LIMITED (“SkillCarry”, “we”, “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies on https://skillcarry.net (the “Platform”), what they are for and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your computer, tablet or phone (your “device”). They let the website recognize the device and browser, keep you signed in and remember settings such as language. We also use related technologies that work in a similar way, in particular the browser’s local storage, scripts and tags. In this Policy all of them are called “Cookies”.
2. Definitions
- Personal Data – any information relating to an identified or identifiable individual, such as a name, email address, IP address or location data.
- Usage Data – information collected automatically, such as IP address, browser type, operating system, URLs and time of pages visited, device identifiers and browsing data.
- Data Controller – the entity that decides why and how Personal Data is processed; for the Platform this is SKILLCARRY LIMITED.
- Data Processor – an entity that processes Personal Data on the Controller’s behalf.
- Tracker – any technology (cookies, web beacons, scripts, local storage) used to store or read information on a User’s device.
- Consent – a freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous indication by which a User agrees to non-essential Cookies, where the law requires such consent.
- Cookie Preferences – the User’s choices about non-essential Cookies, including analytics, marketing and personalization.
- User – any individual who visits, registers on or uses the Platform.
3. Types of Cookies we use
3.1. Strictly necessary Cookies
Required for the Platform to work and stay secure: signing in, keeping your session and cart, protecting forms against forged requests, preventing fraud and remembering your privacy choice. They do not require consent, because without them we cannot provide the service you ask for.
- sessionid – keeps you signed in and links your cart and checkout to your session. Expires after 7 days of inactivity or when you sign out.
- csrftoken – security token that protects forms and account actions against cross-site request forgery. Up to 12 months.
- sb_consent (local storage) – stores the choice you made in the cookie banner so that we do not ask again. Kept until you clear your browser storage.
- Payment and anti-fraud Cookies – set by our payment providers (for example Stripe and PayPal) on checkout pages to process the payment and detect fraud. Lifetimes are set by the provider, typically from 30 minutes to 12 months.
3.2. Functional and preference Cookies
Remember choices that make the Platform more convenient. Blocking them does not stop you from ordering, but the website may forget your settings.
- store_language – the interface language you selected or that was suggested on your first visit. 12 months.
- store_currency – the display currency (USD or EUR). 12 months.
- Interface state (local storage) – for example the selected light or dark theme, values entered in our calculators and planners, and the state of panels in your workspace. Kept until you clear your browser storage.
3.3. Communication and support Cookies
The live chat on the website is provided by Tidio. When the chat loads, Tidio stores identifiers in Cookies and local storage to keep your conversation together between pages and visits, recognize a returning visitor and route the request to support. Their lifetime is set by Tidio.
3.4. Analytics Cookies
Help us understand how the Platform is used: pages visited, session length, clicks, navigation paths, technical events, device and browser information and aggregated trends. We use this to measure performance, find and fix problems and improve the experience.
- Google Analytics 4 – Cookies _ga and _ga_<ID>, up to 24 months. Used with Google Consent Mode: they are set only after you choose “Accept all”.
3.5. Marketing Cookies
Used to measure the effectiveness of advertising and to show advertising that matches a User’s interests. At the date of this Policy we do not run third-party advertising pixels on the Platform. If we introduce advertising or remarketing services, such as Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising or Meta, they will be listed here and will operate only in line with your Cookie Preferences.
3.6. Third-party content
Some pages display content from other services, such as the Trustpilot review widget, or let you sign in with Google, Discord or Facebook. When you interact with these elements, the provider may set its own Cookies under its own privacy policy and settings.
4. What we use Cookies for
- to make sign-in fast and secure;
- to protect your Account and alert you to suspicious activity;
- to remember your language, currency and interface settings;
- to store and respect your Cookie Preferences, consents and opt-outs;
- to support live chat and Order-related communication;
- to detect, prevent and investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents and technical problems;
- to measure feature usage, diagnose issues, analyze conversion paths and improve the Platform, subject to your consent where required;
- to measure marketing performance, subject to your consent where required.
5. Managing Cookies and withdrawing consent
5.1. Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent before using non-essential Cookies. On your first visit a banner offers two options: “Accept all” and “Essential only”. Until you choose, and if you choose “Essential only”, analytics and marketing Cookies are not set.
5.2. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time: clear the site data for skillcarry.net in your browser and the banner will appear again on your next visit, or write to support@skillcarry.net. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that took place before.
5.3. You can also block or delete Cookies in your browser or device settings. Instructions are available from the browser makers:
5.4. Blocking strictly necessary Cookies will prevent you from signing in, using the cart and paying. Blocking other Cookies may reduce convenience or personalization but does not stop you from using the core functions of the Platform.
5.5. Your choice applies to the browser and device on which you made it. If you use another browser or device, or clear your Cookies, you may need to choose again.
6. Location-based settings and U.S. state privacy choices
6.1. Consent and opt-out rules differ between countries, and we may apply different Cookie settings depending on your location. Where prior consent is required, non-essential Cookies are used only after you give it, unless a legal exemption applies. Where the law allows an opt-out model, certain analytics technologies may be enabled by default, provided you are clearly informed and have an effective way to opt out. Advertising, retargeting and personalization technologies stay disabled until you make a choice.
6.2. For Users in U.S. states whose laws give a right to opt out of the sale or sharing of Personal Data, targeted advertising or profiling, we will provide a “Your Privacy Choices” or similar mechanism where required. SkillCarry does not sell Personal Data. Where the law requires it, we honor recognized opt-out preference signals, including Global Privacy Control.
7. Advertising and behavioral targeting
If we use advertising, attribution or behavioral-targeting technologies, their purpose is to measure campaigns, understand which advertising works, build or exclude audiences and show relevant ads. Where the law requires it, they are used only with your consent, which you can withdraw through the means described in Section 5 or through the opt-out tools offered by the advertising providers. Opting out of personalized advertising does not mean you will see no ads; it means the ads you see may be less relevant to you.
8. Internal tools
We use internal administration, support and reporting tools to operate the Platform, manage Orders, investigate disputes and monitor performance. Where these tools process Personal Data collected through Cookies, this is limited to operational, support, security, compliance and troubleshooting purposes and is covered by appropriate contractual, technical and organizational safeguards.
9. Payment handling
Payments, refunds and payouts are processed by authorized third-party payment providers. SkillCarry processes only the limited payment-related information needed to administer Orders, refunds and chargebacks, reconcile transactions, prevent fraud and meet legal duties. Full card numbers and sensitive authentication data such as CVV/CVC codes are processed by PCI DSS-certified providers and are not stored by SkillCarry.
10. Where data is processed
SkillCarry is registered in Hong Kong. The Platform is hosted in data centers in Germany. Some of the providers mentioned in this Policy process data in other countries, including outside the European Economic Area. Where Personal Data covered by the GDPR or UK GDPR is transferred to such a country, we rely on the safeguards described in Section 6 of the Privacy Policy, such as adequacy decisions and Standard Contractual Clauses.
11. How long Cookies last
11.1. Session Cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent Cookies stay on your device for a set period or until you delete them. Unless a shorter or longer period is needed for a specific purpose, a legal duty, security, fraud prevention, consent management or a technical necessity, non-essential Cookies are kept for no longer than 24 (twenty-four) months.
11.2. Analytics identifiers are kept only as long as needed for analysis, diagnostics and improvement of the Platform. Where technically feasible, we configure analytics tools to minimize the collection and storage of full IP addresses, for example by truncating or anonymizing them.
11.3. Exact lifetimes can vary with the provider, the Cookie category, your browser settings and updates to the Platform or to third-party tools.
12. Updates to this Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy, for example when we add or remove a service. Material changes are announced by email, by a notice on the website or through the website chat, and take effect 30 (thirty) days after publication unless stated otherwise.
