Blizzard describes a route through Blackmaw Hold, where furbolgs live behind mysterious gates out in Azshara, and from that dungeon passages burrow on toward the raid below Hyjal. Night elves locked their captives down there, a demon hunter included, and corruption has been seeping between the cells ever since.

The instance is meant for characters at 60. It has one difficulty, and its headcount never flexes: ten go in, not nine and not eleven.

Why a Roster of Ten Is Harder to Fill Than It Sounds

Small raids look simple to organise until somebody counts roles. Tanks and healers already eat a big slice of ten seats, and each absentee removes a tenth of the raid. No one hides at the back of so short a list, and a single latecomer keeps nine people waiting at the entrance.

During the weeks right after November 4 the pool is thinner still. Most players are busy levelling, guild rosters stand half-built, and a Classic Plus Barrow Deeps attempt wants ten capped characters free on one evening. A Barrow Deeps carry trades that hunt for a spot already held in your name.

Blizzard attached tier sets and a legendary to this raid and to its 20-player neighbour on the peak, while keeping the legendary's owner class and questline secret. No setting can force a boss to drop anything.
