Excavation Site: A Titan Dig in the Wetlands

The Excavation Site is a new dungeon for levels 24–29, placed in the Wetlands just above Whelgar's Excavation, the dwarven dig that every Alliance leveler remembers for its raptors. Blizzard calls the new area "a place trapped in time". What the archaeologists uncovered is a titan site whose constructs have gone errant, and the preview shows swamp water, moss-covered ruins and the skeleton of something enormous lying across the dig.

That is the full extent of the official information. Boss names, the loot table, dungeon quests and group details have not been announced, and the dungeon was not part of the first beta week, which only held the two lower instances. Anyone searching for Excavation Site WoW Forever details beyond this will find speculation, and we prefer to leave gaps open rather than fill them with guesses.

No Faction Line Here

The two earlier new dungeons each lean toward one faction. For the Excavation Site Blizzard has announced no such restriction, so it is the first of the new instances that Horde and Alliance approach on equal terms. Groups are still single-faction, because WoW Forever does not allow cross-faction play; your order goes to boosters on your side.

Three decisions shape every WoW Forever Excavation Site Boost.

Run type

Single stands for one clear. Package stands for a clear count typed into the calculator. Loot-targeted means the group keeps clearing until a drop you specified is yours; as long as loot tables are unknown, that drop is agreed later in the order chat.

Loot rule

With "Priority on your items" you list pieces and receive them when they appear. With "Everything for your class" all loot your class can equip goes to you.

Method

In Self-play your own hands move the character while boosters fill the other seats. In Piloted a booster moves it during a session you signed off.

Blue Drops, Blueprints and Legacy Credit

The mid-twenties are an awkward stretch: the first dungeon sets are outgrown and the next upgrades sit several levels away. An Excavation Site run answers that with boss-specific items that, by Blizzard's own rule, never come in below blue. Bosses are also where Blueprints are found, the patterns that teach each profession its better camp objects, so crafters have a second motive to wade into the swamp. Builds seen ahead of release additionally tie every dungeon to mastery tiers in Legacy, which is shared across the account.

What we leave out on purpose is any claim about leveling speed. Interviews indicate that instance enemies now grant less experience and instance quests more; whether chained clears beat questing will only be clear after launch.

Timeline of an Order

Purchase day. You configure the WoW Forever Excavation Site Boost and pay; vetted boosters can now claim it. Claim. One of them does, which unlocks a chat with that booster plus support, and a session gets agreed. November 4, 2026 at the earliest. The dig is cleared; launch day is the hard floor, and a rescheduled launch only makes the purchase wait. Afterwards. Proof goes up, a 72-hour clock starts for your confirmation, and an unanswered clock confirms by itself. Walking away is free until the claim happens.
