Nightmare Dungeons
What Are Endgame Dungeons in Diablo 4?
After the campaign, Diablo 4's endgame runs on a handful of repeatable activities, each with its own reward. The Pit is a timed climb through tiers 1 to 150 and the only place where glyphs level up. Nightmare Dungeons are normal dungeons opened with a Nightmare Sigil and given affixes. Infernal Hordes are wave survival for Burning Aether, Kurast Undercity is a timed Vessel of Hatred run steered by tributes, and War Plans, unlocked after the Lord of Hatred campaign at Tyrael in Temis, link up to 5 of 7 activities into one playlist.
All of them scale with Torment, and the Pit itself is what unlocks the higher Torment tiers.

Which Dungeon Carry Fits Your Goal
- Glyph levels and higher Torment: the Pit. Clears inside the 15-minute timer give glyph upgrade attempts, and Pit tiers 10 to 100 open Torment I to XII.
- Obducite and steady Legendaries: Nightmare Dungeons. Each completion guarantees a Legendary or Unique plus 3 more items, and Escalation Nightmares end with Astaroth.
- Experience per minute: Infernal Hordes. In Season 14 testing, Hordes on Torment XII gave the most XP per minute of the three main activities.
- Runes, Cube materials or Mythics: Kurast Undercity, where the tribute decides what the final chest holds.
- Reputation and skill tree nodes: War Plans, with a 7-level tree for each activity.
Season 15 Splinters and the Dungeon Rotation
Season of Hell's Legacy, live since September 15, 2026, ties each Splinter of Evil to activities. The Splinter of Hatred from Mephisto modifies the Pit and Nightmare Dungeons, the Splinter of Terror from Diablo changes Helltide and Infernal Hordes, and the Splinter of Destruction from Baal covers Kurast Undercity and lair bosses. You carry one at a time.
Patch 3.2.1 made several runs pay more: Pit Progress Orb experience doubled, Undercity Jade Epiphany orbs doubled, War Plans experience went up, and an Infernal Horde Compass now costs 500 Sigil Powder instead of 666.
Torment, Realms and Extras
Nightmare Dungeons, Infernal Hordes, Undercity and War Plans run on Torment XII, with a Torment XII unlock add-on for heroes who are not there yet. The Pit is sold by tier and needs no unlock. Every card offers Seasonal and Eternal realms in Softcore or Hardcore, Express for maximum priority, and Piloted, Self Play or Remote Control play. A Hardcore hero is played more slowly on every activity, whichever dungeon boost you buy.
