What Are the Ascension Trials in Path of Exile 2?
The Ascension Trials are how a character in Path of Exile 2 earns its ascendancy. There are 8 Ascendancy points, granted in 4 Ascensions of 2 points each, so a full tree reads 2, 4, 6 and finally 8. Two trials can award them: the Trial of the Sekhemas, found in Act 2, and the Trial of Chaos in Act 3. You can mix the two or repeat the same one for every step.
The first two Ascensions can use the keys the campaign hands you. Ascensions 3 and 4, points 5 to 8, need regular tradeable keys and a much stronger character. The choice of ascendancy itself is final: a Witch who picks Infernalist stays an Infernalist, while the nodes can later be respecced for gold.

Each line is one step of the ascendancy points boost. The two last Ascensions cost more because the trials behind them are harder, and Hardcore in Runes of Aldur is priced above the other leagues. The league list covers Forbidden Rites Softcore, Runes of Aldur Softcore or Hardcore and Standard Softcore or Hardcore.
How the Trials of Ascendancy Carry Is Played
This card does not tie you to one trial. Since either trial can grant any step, you can name your preference in the order chat; otherwise the booster runs the one that fits your build. If you already know you want floors and Honour or rounds and Ultimatum modifiers, the Sekhemas boost and the Trial of Chaos boost sell those routes with point ranges such as 3–8.
Modes: Self Play, Piloted or Remote Control. Express raises your order to maximum priority for the start and the finish, and Stream lets you watch a Piloted run live.
Start and Duration of the Ascension Boost
The booster usually starts within about 15 minutes of payment. A single trial takes about 15 minutes; the reset option runs four of them, so plan for more.
Orders are played in the current league you select. After 1.0 on December 11, 2026, the card moves to the new league. Points done and still short on power for maps? The ascendancy services list the Simulacrum next, and the campaign boost covers characters that have not reached the later trials yet.
