What Is Magtheridon's Head in TBC Anniversary?
Magtheridon's Head is a quest item that drops from Magtheridon, the single boss of Magtheridon's Lair in Phase 1 of The Burning Crusade. Looting it starts a ring quest, so the head is not gear by itself but the key to a ring reward. In a 25-player raid it competes with the wishes of 24 other people, which is why many players wait weeks for it.
Magtheridon has been killable on TBC Anniversary since 19 February, when the Phase 1 raids opened. The raid needs no attunement, so the only real barrier between a fresh level 70 and the ring is getting the head assigned in a group that kills the boss.
What the Magtheridon’s Head Boost Includes
- The head: assigned to your character after the kill, which is the result of this card.
- Loot priority: an optional checkbox; every other drop from Magtheridon that your class can use goes to you as well, including the Tier 4 chest token.
- Gold: from 300 to 2,000, delivered with the order.
- Live stream: a private broadcast of the run.
The head can be earned in Self Play, Piloted or by Remote Control. In Self Play you loot it yourself on your own character, and the raid asks no gear or experience of you.
Buying the Head Carry: Start and Duration
A Magtheridon kill takes about 30 minutes, and the head drops from that single boss, so one run on a free weekly lockout is enough. Magtheridon's Lair needs no attunement, so nothing has to be unlocked first. The start is set with the raid leader for your realm and faction in the order chat.
