What Is Gruul's Lair in TBC Anniversary?
Gruul's Lair is a short 25-player raid of The Burning Crusade with no attunement at all. It has two encounters: High King Maulgar, who fights together with four council members, and then Gruul the Dragonkiller. Maulgar drops the Tier 4 shoulder token and Gruul the leg token, so together with Karazhan and Magtheridon it completes the Tier 4 set. On TBC Anniversary all three opened on 19 February.
Gruul is also the source of the Dragonspine Trophy, an item level 125 trinket and the drop most buyers on TBC Anniversary have in mind when they book this raid.
Dragonspine Trophy Priority and Other Gruul Boost Options
- Loot: Group loot, where drops are shared by the raid, or Full loot priority, where all loot your class can use goes to you. Full loot priority costs more.
- DST prio required: if the Dragonspine Trophy drops in your run, it is yours. This is the default and costs more.
- DST prio not required: a cheaper run for buyers who want the kills and tokens and do not need the trinket.
- Live stream: a private broadcast of the run, available on Piloted.
Self Play, Piloted and Remote Control are all available for Gruul. With Self Play you sit in the raid on your own character, and the order needs neither raid gear nor experience from you.
Run Length and Start of the Gruul Carry
The full raid takes about 30 minutes. You agree the start with the raid leader on your realm in the order chat. From 22 October Gruul and Maulgar also drop Badges of Justice.
Combining Gruul With the Rest of Phase 1
If the trophy is the only goal, the Dragonspine Trophy boost is built around that single item. The chest token of Tier 4 sits one raid over in the Magtheridon's Lair boost, and Karazhan, Gruul and Magtheridon come as one order in the Phase 1 All Raids Bundle. With "DST prio required" the trophy goes to you whenever it drops in your run. If the trophy itself is the goal of your order, the separate Dragonspine Trophy card is built around it.
What is the difference between Group loot and Full loot priority?
With Group loot the drops are shared by the raid, and only the Dragonspine Trophy is reserved for you if you chose DST priority. With Full loot priority, every item your class can use from Maulgar and Gruul goes to you.
Do I need attunement or gear?
No. Gruul's Lair has no attunement, and with Self Play you need neither gear nor experience.
