What Are Crafting Materials in Diablo 4?
Crafting materials in Diablo 4 are what turns a good drop into a finished item. Obducite pays for Masterworking: each item has ranks 1 to 25, and then a Capstone adds a big boost to a random affix that you can reroll for Obducite and gold, or Neathiron on Ancestral gear. Forgotten Souls buy gems, and since patch 3.2.1 a Royal gem costs 10 of them and a Grand gem 50. Veiled Crystal goes into Blacksmith salvage and upgrades, and Scattered Prisms add sockets.
The richest Obducite source is Nightmare Dungeons with Treasure Breach or Strongroom affixes, followed by the Undercity Tribute of Refinement and Infernal Hordes. World bosses drop Scattered Prisms. All of it takes Torment runs, hour after hour.

You can tick several materials in one order, and each one gets its own slider. Seasonal Softcore is the base realm; Eternal costs a bit more and Hardcore more again. With Express the farm jumps the standard queue for an extra fee. The materials are farmed Piloted, Self Play or by Remote Control, with a live stream available on Piloted.
How Long the Materials Farm Takes
Work begins about 15 minutes after the order. Obducite is the quickest to stack, at about 15 minutes. Forgotten Souls, Neathiron and Scattered Prisms take about an hour, and Veiled Crystal and Baleful Fragments up to about 2 hours. Hardcore farms run slower because the booster plays every Torment run with more care.
Where to Buy Diablo 4 Crafting Materials Next
If you want the activities themselves rather than a material total, book Nightmare Dungeon runs or Undercity runs with the Obducite tribute. Masterworking also costs coin, which you can top up with Diablo 4 gold. Lair keys and the Crux come from the boss materials card, and both cards are listed on the Diablo 4 materials page.

Yes, on Seasonal or Eternal Hardcore. Hardcore orders cost more and take longer. Materials stay with the Hardcore mode even if that hero dies.
